Hello, I’m Abbey.

Worry Doll and Polita Puffin is the first book created by my dad Rikki and me.

I decided a few years ago to write stories around people that live with a serious illness. At that time we thought my life was going to be quite short, so I made lots of time for writing.

Lucky for me that turned out to be wrong, and I’m still here, saying hello to you!

My dad illustrated our book, and I wrote it, but we also had lots of help from co-creators.

Worry Doll and Polita Puffin is a free book, not made for profit and is only one of the stories created in response to meeting professionals, children and their families. Having cancer myself was just a starting point, I realised when I was researching that there are a lot of people not seen in picture books.

There are so many stories to share, we hope someday soon we’ll co-create more books to help ensure everyone has the opportunity to see themselves in a book.

Donations and help from friends have allowed us to print and send free copies of Worry Doll and Polita Puffin to every children’s hospital or hospice in the UK and Ireland.

Please be aware that there are parts of this website that you might like to visit and some that might not be what you’re looking for, just at the moment.

The 3 short films on our Co-creating page explain before you watch them that they’re about different times in my journey with cancer.

Our Tribute to Frances page is all about a fabulous wee girl who helped to inspire our Polita Puffin book.

If you have an idea about how we can make our website better for you, or maybe you think you can help us to co-create more books, then please get in touch.

Thank you to all of our Worry Doll co-creators.

Love from Abbey and Rikki
